
Training for Biblical Facilitators in West Borneo Province, Indonesia
The Biblical Commission of the Archdiocese of Pontianak, Indonesia held biblical apostolate activities, namely the Training for Biblical Facilitators throughout West Borneo Province of Indonesia.
The main theme of this training was “Promoting the Biblical Apostolate in West Borneo." This training activities was facilitated by RP. Albertus Purnomo, OFM as Chairman of the Indonesian Biblical Association (Lembaga Biblika Indonesia, full member of CBF). This training lasted from June 06 to 08, 2025 at the Retreat House of St. John Paul II Anjongan, Landak Regency, West Borneo, and was attended by 4 Dioceses in West Kalimantan namely the Archdiocese of Pontianak, Ketapang Diocese, Sanggau Diocese and Sintang Diocese with 89 participants of priests and facilitators. On the second day there was also a Mass with the Archbishop of Pontianak, Mgr. Agustinus Agus who was specially present to lead the mass.
This activity is a means to share experiences, add insight, to exchange ideas and to train biblical Facilitator in the Dioceses in West Borneo. In this training, all participants were provided with the manual book for biblical facilitators, publiseh by Lembaga Biblika Indonesia, edited by Albertus Purnomo OFM. The training was divided into 6 sessions with materials namely Basic principles of Scripture, Biblical Apostolate, Methods of Biblical Apostolate, Scripture Engagement, Biblical Apostolate based on experience and Biblical Apostolate in the modern world learning from the Verbum Domini.
After attending this training, the facilitators are expected to be able to apply what they have learned to other facilitators in their Parish as a provision for the proclamation of Word of God to serve the people in the basic community in their each parish.
